 Final Chapter – Dinosaur Fossil Hoax Embarrasses Creationists

Friends, sad to say, this fossil is not genuine. All the photos of a dinosaur eating a man are fake. Someday we hope someone finds a real fossil like this but this was just an April Fool’s Hoax created several years ago. What could have been the missing link for the creationist worldview was a prank. This first link includes the photos of how some people posing as college students and a professor created this faked fossil, buried it in the sands of New Mexico, took pictures of it and then published it as real on the Internet.
The next link is the original news flash that announced their pretend “discovery.”
We knew this was a fake fossil when we placed it on our website. Some have asked, why place a hoax on a site who’s main objective is to explore the truth of our origins? Just this, it’s a wake up call to all who believe in the creation account. On April 1, 1999 this joke was put on the Internet to criticize creationists for their weak over used arguments and lacking any solid physical proof. He’s right; we need to be more objective and thorough if we wish to be credible. Many Creationists were duped into thinking it was real. Was it wishful thinking or poor investigation on their part? Even the nameless Aussie creationist who introduced me to these photos was disappointed when I sent him the link exposing this prank. All too often we believe something too quickly or refuse to change our position when new evidence is presented to the contrary.

Let’s show who is right once and for all. I ask you, will finding a 500-foot 5,000-year-old ship atop a mountain do it? How about a real dinosaur swallowing a human fossil? What about a 4000-year-old 12-foot human skeleton with a calculator in his hand? Let’s get to work. I will need everyone’s help. In the next 2 weeks, two programs will be introduced. Stay tuned for more details and may the best “truth” win.
